CAPITALISM REALISM
In 1963 Sigmar Polke founded, with Richter and Lueg, Kapitalistischen Realismus (capitalist realism), a pictorial tendency in pop art. It was an anti-estilo of art that appropriated the language of advertising. This title is related to the socialist realism, then the official art doctrine of the Soviet Union. It's an ironic way the artistic doctrine of Western capitalism, linked to the consumer society.
His works reflect with irony the manipulation of the media. Uses elements of modern painting, but also others of mass culture, as kitsch or advertising. He made pictures that, with a special treatment, change color to react to environmental pollution. From 1965 he made variations of classics from artists such as Dürer and Kandinsky, imitations of works povera & conceptual. 1991 is his series Neue Bilder (new images).
Inspired by the manifesto capitalist realism (kapitalistischer Realismus) founded by Sigmar Polke together with Gerhard Richter in the 1960s, in which he satirized the commercial forms of representation of advertising and mass media and criticising the consumerist trend.
Peter Drucker refers to post-capitalism as the society of information and knowledge. The development of intangible assets and the creation of intangible capital. The knowledge economy is what prevails nowadays with the Internet revolution, is the same as the printing revolution.
The art of Postcapitalist realism reflects expression, colors and strokes bold using the artistic figure of speech about the power of advertising on the public Internet.
